City guide
How to choose the right Saudi prayer timetable
Why every city needs its own page
Saudi Arabia uses the Asia/Riyadh time zone across its regions, but one civil clock does not make solar events identical. Sunrise, solar noon and sunset vary with latitude and longitude. The difference between nearby cities may be small, yet it becomes clearer between the Gulf coast, Red Sea coast, central plateau, north and south.
That is why the directory keeps independent coordinates for 24 cities. It does not copy the capital’s value across the country or assume that two cities in one administrative region are interchangeable. Open the city where you are actually staying. When traveling, switch to the destination page after arrival and confirm the heading before reading a time.
What a city page contains
Every city page begins with a daily card for Fajr, sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. It highlights the next prayer and provides a countdown for immediate planning. Tomorrow’s main values appear below for a quick day-to-day comparison. The times are rendered by the server, so essential information stays readable even if JavaScript is unavailable.
The monthly table includes every Gregorian day, an informative Hijri date and all six values. The city guide explains the earliest and latest Fajr and Maghrib in the month, the sunrise-to-Maghrib span, coordinates, region, practical use and accuracy limits. It also links to nearby cities for comparison.
Search and browse by region
Type an Arabic or English city name in the filter to narrow the list immediately. Coverage includes cities in Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, the Eastern Province, Al-Qassim, Asir, Tabuk, Hail, Jazan, Najran, Al Jawf, the Northern Borders and Al Bahah. Every city remains a normal crawlable link and does not depend on the interactive filter to be discovered.
If your town is not listed, choose the nearest city cautiously and do not assume an exact match. An approximation may help general planning but is not a substitute for a local timetable. You can request an addition through the contact page with the place name, region, proposed coordinates and a reliable source that helps the team review it.
One consistent calculation method
Pages use Umm al-Qura settings with an 18.5-degree Fajr angle, a 0.833-degree sunrise and sunset adjustment and a shadow factor of one for Asr. Isha is 90 minutes after Maghrib, extended to 120 minutes during Ramadan. Coordinates, date, equation of time and solar declination feed the calculation before the result is rounded to the displayed minute.
Consistency means that two cities can be compared on the same basis. It does not mean every mosque uses the same settings. The calculation methodology explains the equations, settings and rounding in more detail and shows why another source can display a different minute without either system necessarily being broken.
When to follow a mosque or official authority
KSA Prayer shows calculated prayer-entry times and does not publish every mosque’s iqamah. If you plan to join a congregation, follow that mosque’s announcement. Friday prayer, Taraweeh, Qiyam and Eid follow local programs. At the Two Holy Mosques or major events, current notices from the responsible authority take priority for their audience.
A one-minute difference can come from coordinates, rounding, elevation, the visible horizon or a safety offset. Compare city, date, method and purpose before reporting it. For fasting, travel or a special religious circumstance, consult a qualified scholar or trusted local authority; the site explains its calculator and does not issue fatwas.
Review and new-city requests
Each city record includes bilingual names, region, coordinates, priority and nearby places. Those fields drive the page, search, public API and sitemap. A correction is therefore made at the structured source so it reaches every output instead of changing one heading while leaving the alternate language or monthly data inconsistent.
To report a correction or propose another city, use the contact form. Include the name, region, coordinates, date, prayer and source as relevant. The editorial policy explains verification, while the About page identifies the publisher, independence and limits of the service.
New-city requests are reviewed carefully because a name without reliable coordinates can create a page that looks complete while using an unsuitable location reference. We also check Arabic and English spelling, the region and nearby links. Once approved, the record appears in the directory, search and sitemap with reciprocal Arabic and English URLs. This is slower than automatically producing pages for a long list of place names, but it protects the directory from thin or misleading entries. Until an unlisted town is added, a local mosque or responsible local authority is a better source than selecting a distant city simply because it appears in the directory.
